Dissertationsprojekt

Violent conflicts in North-Kivu province in Eastern Congo have been generally associated with struggles about mineral resources. Issues of land, power and identity and the extent to which they involve diverse actors and networks in conflict dynamics are often overlooked. Through the 'politics of scale' approach, the aim of this study is to better understand the role of key actors, their networks as well as the ways in which they challenge peacebuilding intervention that deals with violent conflict in Bashali (Masisi-Eastern DR Congo).

Field experience related to the PhD Research:

  • 3 years grassroot experience, working with communities affected by violent conflicts.
  • Participatory-Action Research (PAR) for Conflict transformation
  • Applied Research in Peace building context
  • Planning, Monitoring and evaluation of peace building projects
